Project Facts
The project scope consisted of two Pepcon™ seawater electrochlorination systems generating sodium hypochlorite for biofouling control within the seawater cooling and utility systems of the CPOC offshore platform in the Gulf of Thailand.
CHALLENGE
Over time, the platform began experiencing reduced electrochlorination efficiency, inconsistent chlorine residual levels, increasing maintenance requirements, and frequent breakdowns — raising concerns about biofouling risks and higher operational costs
SOLUTION
Together with local partner Turcomp, conducted a comprehensive electrochlorination performance audit. The engagement began with a one-day customer workshop and operator training session, followed by a structured performance audit evaluating chlorine production rate, current density, voltage performance, equipment condition, and operational practices
RESULT
Following implementation of the recommended improvements, the platform achieved electrochlorination efficiency in accordance with design specifications, stabilized chlorine residual levels, lower risk of marine biofouling, and improved operational reliability.
