Your Platform Can’t Run on an Unreliable Watermaker

Offshore teams fight the same villain: aging, unreliable watermakers that are way past their prime.

Breakdowns happen at the worst possible time—and when the system goes down, everything feels it.

  • Emergency fly outs for parts and technicians that destroy budgets and schedules

  • Stress, frustration, lost confidence, and hours wasted on alarms and workarounds.

  • Unscheduled boat runs to get water shipped in from shore.
  • You shouldn’t have to struggle with your freshwater system just to keep your day tank full.

Trusted Offshore. Proven Worldwide.

Many of our people have lived and worked on platforms themselves, so we understand the realities you deal with every day. Tight access, rotating crews, harsh marine conditions, equipment that must run no matter what.

That firsthand offshore experience shapes every BlueCube RO design. We’ve walked the same decks, fought the same space constraints, and kept the same critical systems running. We know what works offshore because we’ve done the work offshore.

Our track record is simple: Reliable systems. Smarter retrofits. Cleaner integrations.

The Cost of Doing Nothing Adds Up Fast

When watermaking equipment fails offshore, the entire operation pays the price:

  • Crew welfare dips

  • Maintenance hours spike

  • Downtime costs climb

  • Morale suffers

Reliable freshwater shouldn’t be optional—it’s essential to safe, continuous offshore operations.

Options & Upgrades

INLET OPTIONS

BlueCube inlet configurations ensure stable RO feed conditions even when platform seawater pressure is inconsistent. A boost pump is available in either 1x100% or 2x100% duty to support low-pressure sources such as seachests. A pressure control valve can also be added to regulate variable feed pressures and maintain a consistent inlet supply to the RO system.

CHLORINE REMOVAL OPTIONS

For locations with chlorinated seawater supply BlueCube systems remove chlorine using one of two methods. A carbon contactor provides physical adsorption, or chemical injection (SBS) neutralizes free chlorine through chemical reduction.

PREFILTRATION UPGRADES

For locations with higher suspended solids or seasonal turbidity, BlueCube offers enhanced pretreatment. A basic media filter improves upstream solids removal, an automated media filter adds automatic backwash functionality, and a bag filter provides a compact, serviceable option for moderate TSS levels.

CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTATION

BlueCube systems can be tailored to the platform’s automation needs. Basic controls provide essential instrumentation and protection logic, while advanced controls add an HMI, transmitters, and DCS integration. Both options are available in safe area or HazLoc configurations.
PRESSURE SAFETY OPTIONS
Pressure protection can be supplied to different standards. The basic pressure safety package includes relief valves and vacuum breakers across key lines, while the API pressure safety package provides upgraded components for facilities requiring API-level compliance.

POTABLE WATER OPTIONS
To meet potable water requirements, BlueCube offers multiple post-treatment configurations. The basic potable water package includes pH neutralization, corrosion control and disinfection, while the advanced potable water package adds enhanced monitoring and record keeping.

MEMBRANE CLEANING
BlueCube supports long-term RO performance with two cleaning configurations. A manual CIP system enables operator-performed membrane cleaning, while a fully automated CIP system cleans without manual intervention.

CERTIFICATION OPTIONS
Packages can be delivered with a range of optional certifications. ABS, DNV, and Lloyd’s approvals are available for classification society requirements. Hazardous area certifications include Class I Div 2, CSA Zone 2, and IECEx Zone 2.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you match our old tie-in points?
Every retrofit starts with a tie-in survey. We record exact nozzle size, type, orientation, and height so your replacement matches without hot work or rework.
What lead time for emergency replacements?
Standard lead times run 12–16 weeks, but in emergencies we can pre-stage modules and ship partial systems to restore water in as little as 4–6 weeks. We’ll work with your outage window to prioritize what gets installed first.
What spares should we stock?
We recommend a core kit: cartridge filters, high-pressure pump seals, membrane elements, and instrument sensors. For critical operations, we also suggest a standby high-pressure pump and full O-ring/gasket set.
Do you provide HazLoc certification?
The base system is safe-area rated. Optional upgrades are available for CSA Class/Zone Div 2 and IECEx Zone 2, with or without third-party certification depending on your project requirements.
How long does installation take offshore?
Most modular replacements are installed and producing water within a single shift once tie-in utilities are prepped. The hatchable design avoids multi-day crane operations and minimizes downtime.
Can rotating crews operate it without special training?
Yes. Controls are simplified for rotating crews. Each install includes onboard familiarization plus 24/7 access to digital training resources and videos through our 360Support portal.
What’s the expected service life?
Bluecube modules are engineered for 20+ years of offshore duty when maintained per the O&M manual. Corrosion-resistant materials and coatings are specified to meet harsh marine conditions.
